Fixture Focus - Spurs (19 Oct 2008)

Stoke City FC vs Tottenham Hotspur

The last meeting with a newly-promoted club ended in a disaster for Spurs as we lost 0-1 to Hull City in White Hart Lane.

On Sunday we would be the visitors to another recently-promoted club.

Judging from our past seasons' performances away and our current form, I guess Spurs would be approaching Stoke with caution, even though they are just 2 points and 1 place above us. This is good news, though, as if we won, we would be out of the bottom rut that we have been in since the beginning of the season.

Based on their performances against Liverpool and Chelsea (a draw and a win respectively), Spurs might be in for a little trouble if Stoke decided to keep their defences tight and play mano-a-mano style. We need quick attacks in order to bring them down. And the problem here is that, after a 2-week hiatus, will the new Spurs team be able to gel more effectively now?

Only time will tell....
