Weekend Review - 31 Oct 2015

Crystal Palace vs Manchester United

LVG send out second team and we cant even progress to the next round of the Capital One Cup. On a side note, we joined Arsenal and Chelsea as the big teams that got knocked out of the competition.

We will visit Crystal Palace and with Alan Pardew at the helm, they are doing well in the Premier League. This season, we saw some dark horses doing exceptionally well in the league like West Ham, Leicester City and Crystal Palace. It help in a way that make the league exciting and provide more competition to the usual suspects for the title.

Man Utd is giving 0.5 handicap. Take Man Utd for the win and the handicap.

Midweek Review - 27 Oct 2015

Manchester United vs Middlesbrough

A super dour boring draw in the Manchester derby. We were too cautious and didnt take the chances. We could have gone for the kill since there is no Sergio Aguero and David Silva.

We will have another cup game this midweek in a congested fixture list. And we will have Middlesbrough visiting us.

Somehow I feel that Wayne Rooney is not performing to his peak, or worst, past his peak. He is considered for every game that Man Utd and England is playing. Only time he is not playing is when he is injured or he got a suspension. I seriously think he need some time off or some "me-time" to reflect on his current performance.

Man Utd is giving 1.25 handicap. Take Man Utd for the win and progress to the next round.

Fixture Focus - Spurs (25 Oct 2015)

AFC Bournemouth vs Tottenham Hotspur

Sunday's kickoff involves Spurs moving to Vitality Stadium, home ground of EPL newbies Bournemouth.

Defeat to Anderlecht during the midweek Europa game does not seem to hamper Spurs, who are trying to extend their unbeaten EPL run with tonight's match. Kane is set to start after coming on a while in the Europa game. Mason could make it back from injury to the lineup provided he passes his fitness test.

Bournemouth's Tomlin and Surman could return for this game, whereas Boruc is still awaiting news of his fitness level before confirming his spot in the lineup.

Both sides are desperate for a win to climb up the table, albeit for different reasons and objectives.

Weekend Review - 25 Oct 2015

Manchester United vs Manchester City

A draw against CSKA Moscow, at least we gained a point rather than 2 point loss. Our gruesome schedule will last till 7 Nov before we took an international break as there is Carling Cup and Champions League games to be play.

We will host our noisy neighbour this weekend. And is a derby not to be missed as it is  a top of the table clash. Only 2 points behind Man City, if we win it, we will overtake them but still need to contend 2nd spot if Arsenal win Everton.

Man Utd is giving level ball handicap. No punt for this game.

Fixture Focus–Spurs (Europa, 23 October 2015)

Anderlecht vs Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs fans will undoubtedly remember our visit in 1984 to Anderlecht where penalty kicks after extra time gave Spurs the European Cup win.

Anderlecht are without a win so far in the group stages. We have the return of Ryan Mason but Son, Chadli and Bentaleb are still out injured. There’s also talk of resting Kane which means Pochettino is likely to field a first 11 comprising a mixture of first stringers and our reserves. Who can take the place of Kane up front if he is rested? Maybe it is time for Clinton N’Jie to shine.

COYS!

Midweek Review - 21 Oct 2015

CSKA Moscow vs Manchester United

An easy win against Everton with some changes done to the squad. LVG drop Depay and bring in Herrera to reinforce the midfield. It was the strongest starting 11 I have seen recently.

We will head to Russia to visit CSKA Moscow with high confidence. Hopefully another 3 points in the bag to ease the group as all teams are currently on 3 points with goal difference played a big part in this competition.

Man Utd is giving level ball. With an important derby over the weekend, LVG will need to balance out the squad for maximum results for these 2 games. Take Man Utd for the win.

After a week's break, KingMeng squeezes past into the lead based purely on his undying faith in a Spurs draw, with Voxeros, edwinsng and ihawk98 hot on his heels. Congratulations to Mr White, Bedokian and redherring as well for getting one prediction right in another week of head-scratching results...

Fixture Focus - Spurs (17 Oct 2015)

Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool FC

After the international break, Spurs will host Liverpool in their first game under a new manager.

With injuries to Son, Bentaleb and Mason, and suspension of Dier, Pochettino is having a minor team selection crisis. Dembele returns from injury and is likely to start along with Chadli, Alli and Lamela. The four of them will be playing a crucial role in midfield, which I think is going to be a hot battleground tonight.

For Liverpool, high expectations are abound, ranging from the new manager Klopp, the players and the fans. The Reds are facing an injury crisis as well, with Ings and Gomez out of the season, and Firmino and Benteke out for this game.

This is a match not to be missed.

Weekend Review - 17 Oct 2015

Everton vs Manchester United

International break is over, and we are still not yet halfway in our tough Oct fixtures.

We will face Everton at Goodison Park and though we are 2 points behind Man City, we need to rebuild our confidence after the heavy defeat from Arsenal.

With the only long term absentee from Luke Shaw, we will have all the players at our disposal.

Man Utd is giving 0.25 handicap. No punt for this match.

Results - EPL Prediction League Match Weekend 3 - 4 Oct 2015

It is edwinsng's turn to be on top this week, with two correct predictions to herald Brendan Rodger's exit and an amazing Arsenal victory. Congratulations to ihawk98 as well for another notch on the Marksman table. Voxeros could've joined him, but somehow a change of mind doesn't always work out as planned.

In the meantime, I continue to be an egg farmer and wonder why I even bother... much like my love for Liverpool.

Fixture Focus - Spurs (4 Oct 2015)

Swansea City AFC vs Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs will be travelling to Wales as visitors of Swansea City for this weekend's fixture.

Since the defeat to Arsenal at the Capital One cup game, Spurs had picked up the pieces and moved on tremendously, bagging wins in all 3 league games. Pochettino would want this momentum to keep going, and assembled a strong squad despite playing an Europa League game during the midweek.

Swansea is having some sort of a blip in their campaign, with no wins for the past 3 games. However, using home ground advantage, they will be trying to do a reversal to their footballing fortune.

I would say this is going to be a good match, though not as exciting as the one against Man City.

Weekend Review - 4 Oct 2015

Arsenal vs Manchester United

A winner against Wolfsburg on the last day of September and now we head to October with high confidence.

But we are going to take one game at a time starting with Arsenal. It seem quite early to face tough rivals, but we need to see where we stand. Are we true contenders or will fight out with the converted 4th placing as the new norm?

Man Utd is eating 0.5 handicap? Take Man Utd on this handicap and continue to stay at the summit.

Fixture Focus–Spurs (Europa League, 1 Oct 2015)

Monaco vs Tottenham Hotspur

Coming off a resounding result over the weekend against Manchester City, the team is full of confidence and will want to get a result away from home in this cup competition.

Monaco has a dangerous striker in El Shaarawy and will enjoy home field advantage tonight. Spurs on the other hand will field a mixture of starters and 2nd team players in an effort to keep key players fresh. Son is out injured so we will see Kane upfront supported by Chadli, Eriksen and Townsend. Expect Clinton N’Jie to get a run out in the 2nd half especially since he would be familiar with Monaco’s style coming from the French leagues.
