Results - EPL Prediction 29 - 30 Mar 2014

Well, congratulations to me as I finally opened account in the Marksmen Board and got my century. edwinsng got stopped at customs at 99 points but I am sure we will see him crossing that milestone next week.

Well done to ianrush for closing the gap at the top with a 6-point haul but KingMeng remains at the top with a relatively comfy 3-point cushion.

In other news, Arrenn has sacked himself as manager. He is done for this season but he has indicated that he will be back for the World Cup predictions.

6 more games to go. Cheong ah!

Midweek Review - 1 Apr 2014

Manchester United v Bayern Munich

So Man Utd is continuing their revival under Moyes by trashing Aston Villa 4-1. And we are closing on the final berth of the Europa League by overtaking Tottenham.

We will be facing the toughest or the easiest (whichever way you want to see it) test against Bayern. Toughest is because they are the latest champions in the Bundesliga with 6 games to spare and also the current titleholders of the Champions League.

Easiest is because we will be out of the next round, if you know what i mean.

Man Utd is eating 1.25 handicap. I will eat it.

Fixture Focus–Spurs (EPL, 30 March 2014)

Liverpool vs Tottenham Hotspur

Is revenge on the cards? It would seem so at least for Christian Eriksen who is determined to ensure the beating we got at the Lane back in December 2013 is not repeated this season.

The last time these two teams met, it resulted in the firing of our coach. Amidst the swirling vultures about Sherwood’s tenure at the club and the alleged appointment of Van Gaal, there is still football to be played in the final few matches of the season.

Spurs have a chance to salvage pride and show our true colors tonight. At the same time, Liverpool are playing their best football in years and are scoring at will. They will be tough to stop at home so quite honestly, a draw is the best we can hope for.

Weekend Review - 29 Mar 2014

Manchester United v Aston Villa

When you lost to 2 rivals with a 3-0 scoreline, coupled with the fact that the conceded goal was barely a minute into the match, wouldnt the fans be disappointed and angry about it?

There are several reports stating that Moyes is not the majority shareholders' choice as the manager to succeed Fergie. Neither are the fans' choice as well.

Anyway, we are not sure which direction is Man Utd heading with Moyes still in charge. But one thing for sure, the dissatifaction will definitely grow in the coming weeks till the end of the season.

Aston Villa visiting us and somehow i feel that the winless record in Old Trafford will be broken again tomorrow.

Man Utd is giving 1.25 handicap. No point giving so high when the team are in crisis mode.

Results - EPL Prediction 22 - 23 Mar 2014

Rumour has it that Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes are ready to relief Moyes of his managerial duties but a back-to-back set of victory over Olympiakos and West Ham United means that Moyes remains that proverbial cockroach that cannot be killed.

Perhaps all will be over when we take on ManCity this coming midweek.

Coming to our league. Congrats to KingMeng for pulling 5-points ahead at the top of table. Everton finally cleared the 100-point mark after last week's stumble. Edwinsng and I shall be the next in line to clear that milestone.

Where did Arrenn disappear to?

Midweek Review - 25 Mar 2014

Manchester United vs Manchester City

Well, this is a win that we expected and Rooney scored a 56 yards goal, similiar to the one that David Beckham scored against Wimbledon in 1996. David Moyes, dont get carried away. We will be seeing the one over the midweek where we have the Manchester derby.

So Liverpool fans are hoping that we help them a favour by denying Manchester City 3 points despite having a 2 games in hand.

Man Utd is eating 0.25 handicap. No punt. I really hope Man City will win and end our misery by sacking Moyes.

Fixture Focus - Spurs (23 March 2014)

Tottenham Hotspur vs Southampton FC

Out of the Europa League, Spurs will play host to the Saints this weekend.

The month of March has been miserable for Spurs. Without a single win in the EPL, and getting further away from the top 4 spots, Sherwood is facing immense pressure to prove what he has in front of the home crowd.

Southampton, though safe from relegation, still has an outside chance of qualifying for Europe.

We shall see how this game goes.

Weekend Review - 22 Mar 2014

West Ham United v Manchester United

Why on earth did Man Utd progress to the next round? Moyes wouldnt have to oversee this weekend match and thereafter. And now we got Bayern Munich in the next round. Now we need to call upon the spirits of 1999 to help us.

Though we have 9 games left to salvage our season by winning all and finish as high as possible. If we finish higher than 6th and qualify for Europa League, that will be a bonus but not something that we want.

We will be visiting West Ham over the weekend and Man City in the midweek. Tell me, can Moyes last till the end of the season? I seriously doubt so as he is on borrowed time.

Man Utd is giving 0.5 handicap. No punt for them.

Fixture Focus - Spurs (20 March 2014)

Sport Lisboa e Benfica vs Tottenham Hotspur
(Europa League Round of 16, Second Leg)

European dreams are slowly fading away as past league defeats and poor showing at home against our Portuguese opponents hampered our Champions League qualification and Europa silverware respectively. Sherwood sure have a very steep uphill to climb now.

With a 1-3 deficit, Spurs will be hoping to garner some precious away goals when we visit Benfica’s home ground at Lisbon. But to make matters worse, our regular defenders would not be there to guard our goals, with Vertonghen (suspended), Dawson and Chiriches (injured) out, and Kaboul a doubtful. A very tall order to overcome the game indeed.

Benfica’s European home game record is impressive, with just 1 defeat all the way back in 2012. Although Jesus’ side have 1 suspension in the form of centre defender Silvio, his Portuguese and Latin American ensemble would likely cause more chaos for our boys.

In bowling terms, we had just secured a turkey, but this turkey is not about 3 strikes in a row, but 3 defeats instead. Hope (emphasis bold) we do not get a four-bagger with this one.

Results - EPL Prediction 15 - 16 Mar 2014

A woeful weekend for ManUtd and I am guessing today may just be Moyes' last day at the office when we get kicked out of the ECL.

Old Trafford used to be like Fort Knox where no one dared dream of taking a single point out. It was a time where a draw by the visitors is worth popping champagnes as if they won. These days, we have crappy teams marching right into the Theatre Of Dreams and we have the 3 points all gift wrapped and waiting.

I blame Bobby Charlton for this.

Coming back to our league. The title is still wide open as ianrush's 6-pointer close the gap at the top to just 2 points.

Congrats also to redherring, edwinsng and Mr White for their 6-points haul too. Speaking of Mr White, congrats to him for crossing the 100-point milestone.

Midweek Review - 19 March 2014

Manchester United v Olympiakos

The most humiliating defeat i have ever seen. The match against Liverpool have other unwanted records that i wont mentioned here. After the match, the board is considering sacking Moyes, just 11 months into the 6 years contract.

Another match that is going to define Moyes' overall season in Man Utd, which is the 2nd leg match against Olympiakos. We are trailing 2-0 and need to score 3 clear goals to progress to the quarter final. With Olympiakos winning the championship from their domestic season over the weekend, they will have the confidence to finish the job in Old Trafford. We dont have the confidence after the defeat against Liverpool, which we really need to pray for a miracle.

Man Utd is giving 1 ball. No punt as it will be the last match that sealed the Moyes' fate.

Fixture Focus - Spurs (16 March 2014)

Tottenham Hotspur vs Arsenal FC

Despite two major setbacks over the past week against Chelsea and Benfica, personally I approach this upcoming game with a sense of surreality. Though in today's terms this game represents a big obstacle in our chase for the top 4, however this is still the North London Derby, with a deep-rooted sense of traditional rivalry.

Enough of my arty-farty talk, Sherwood is facing immense pressure from all fronts; players, fans and management alike. Focus just on the games played versus the points that we have in the table, we know that Everton and Manchester United will be hot on our heels should we slip up this round.

Arsenal's exit from the Champions League meant Wenger could fully concentrate on domestic games, and of course that league title.

We have a statistical chance of notching this game - Arsenal has not won in the Lane for the past 5 league game meetings.

Weekend Review - 16 Mar 2014

Manchester United v Liverpool

2 down, 10 to go. And we will facing a do or die week with 2 important matches. Against Liverpool and Olympiakos. One have to win in order to have any slim chance of playing continential football next season, another is to overcome a deficit to progress further.

I know this review is short, but at the moment I couldnt find anything to talk about as this season is an overall failure even though Fergie pre-empt us that we should lower our expectation. Even lower our expectation, Moyes still fail miserably.

Man Utd is giving 0.25 handicap. No punt for this match.

Fixture Focus–Spurs (Europa League, 14 March 2014)

Tottenham Hotspur v Benfica

The team will be aiming to bounce back from last Saturday’s debacle.

We will be facing a very strong Primeira Liga side who will be looking to do well in this competition after having dropped out of the Champions League due to technicalities in the group stage. They have goal scoring prowess in Lima and Rodrigo and I do hope we have a back line to handle the pressure. Spurs have done well so far in this competition and the come from behind win against Dnipro was testament to that.

As I said before, this is a good chance for us to get some silverware this season so I hope Sherwood fields his best squad to get a good result at home. I know we have the North London Derby on Sunday looming which is a match all Spurs fans want the team to win as well. I do believe that if we play to our potential, we can come away with a slim victory against Benfica.

Results - EPL Prediction 08 - 09 Mar 2014

It's a good weekend for everyone as there are points for everyone. Well, almost.

Congrats to KingMeng for pulling away at the top. Could this be the winning season for him?

Congrats to our next pair of centurions redherring and cool402 for crossing the 100-point mark.

We should see Everton and Mr White crossing that line next week so long as they don't get a nil weekend.

We now enter the final run in to the season. Let's slam on the pedal for that final push!

p.s. As we near the end of the season and if the points are still close, I will be publishing the rules for tie-break.

p.p.s. After this season's EPL, don't forget we still have World Cup 2014 to play! Stick around!

Weekend Review - 8 Mar 2014

West Brom vs Manchester United

Another new low for us - we lost to Olympiakos for the first time, and is in danger of going out of this competition and the likeihood of not playing it next season is also quite high.

We still have 11 games to save our season. And we will visit Hawthorns Stadium to get 3 points.

Man Utd is giving 0.5 handicap. Take Man Utd for the win after a long break since the loss in the Champions League.

Fixture Focus - Spurs (8 March 2014)

Chelsea FC vs Tottenham Hotspur

There will be three 6-pointer games this month, and the trip to Stamford Bridge will be the first.

Sherwood is looking for Spurs' first win since 1990 at West London, but is plagued with injury problems. Rose and Capoue are out along with longer term injuries Lamela and Chiriches.

Despite a midweek international, Mourinho's side do not seem to have any huge injury problem. Staying at the top is now Chelsea's priority, and they seek to further their gap from the second placers.

Be prepared for an explosive game.

Congrats to Everton for being the sole 6-pointer of the weekend while congratulations also extend to redherring for notching another one the Marksmen Board to tie KingMeng for second spot and just a mere correct prediction away from the top.

KingMeng extends his lead by a single point while cool402 lost wind in his sails with a nil weekend on the back of a Perfect-10.

Securing a spot in the Europa League round of 16, Spurs will welcome struggling Cardiff City at the Lane.

Sherwood has no fresh injury concerns in his selection, with Sandro now back, but expect Walker, Chiriches and Lamela to defer their appearances here. Defoe has moved on to Toronto and we wish all the best to him.

Cardiff are second from bottom and whether home or away, showed miserable results recently. Solksjaer will have to rally his team if they want to avoid the drop end season.

5 points separated us from 6th but we are 6 points away from 4th. A win is a must if we are to chase for the coveted Champions League spot.
