Fixture Focus–Spurs (EPL, 30 January 2013)

Norwich City vs Tottenham Hotspur

What a difference a week makes!

Coming of the high of a “Fergie time” goal against Manchester United, Spurs put on a completely disjointed performance against Leeds in the FA Cup and were found lacking. AVB has to find a way to fire the team up for a tricky away tie against the Canaries. Former Spurs player Bassong seems to have recovered in time to face his old side while striker Harry Kane is ineligible to play against us.

Earlier in the season, Norwich fought to a 1-1 draw at the Lane and beating us in the League Cup a few months ago. Spurs play well away from home this season and I will be looking for us to bounce back with a decisive win as fourth place is on the line.

Midweek Review - 30 Jan 2013

Manchester United vs Southampton

We progress to the 5th round with ease after dumping Fulham out with a 4-1 scoreline. And our next opponent is Reading.

Back to Premier League and we have a mid-week match against Southampton. Southampton sacked Nigel Adkins and replaced Mauricio Pochettino. They were in mid-table and had a good run of results, and sacked Nigel. Shocking, but definitely not able to compare to Roman Abramovich who sacked Roberto Di Matteo when he has won the Champions League for Chelsea.

Man Utd is giving 1.75 handicap. Not going to punt as Southampton did quite well against the top half of Premier League teams.

Weekend Review - 26 Jan 2013

Manchester United vs Fulham

Our lead now stands at 5 points between us and Man City, since the draw against Tottenham.

Now we have a FA Cup 4th round tie against Fulham. Fulham have not progressed beyond the 4th round since 1987, which is 26 years ago. I believe that will likely to continue.

Man Utd is giving 1.5handicap. Take Man Utd for the win and progress to the 5th round.

Fixture Focus - Spurs (27 Jan 2013)

Leeds United AFC vs Tottenham Hotspur
(FA Cup 4th Round)

This weekend we would be travelling to Elland Road, home of Championship side Leeds United, who at one time was an European football powerhouse, for the FA Cup 4th round.

Spurs are hit heavily by injuries and/or illness, with Kaboul and Vertonghen unavailable for this game, and Gallas facing a late fitness test. This means we may be seeing the same side that started against Manchester United last weekend.

Leeds so far are without injuries and this means they would have plenty of players to choose from. One interesting face-off would be the duel between Bale and the Leeds rightback Byram.

A stroll in the park? Unlikely, but I expect Spurs to go through.

Whoa so close!! As Everton and myself almost got that Perfect 10!

Congrats to ianrush for taking the lead both in the league as well as the Marksmen Board with 71 points and 6 correct predictions respectively.

At the other end, Arrenn is in trouble slipping from a high of No.1 to the current No. 10 spot. necroastr is a mere 2 points from catching up with the pack.

Let's see how it goes next week!

Weekend Review - 20 Jan 2013

Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester United

We secured a hard fought 3rd round replay FA Cup and got Fulham in the next round.

Next match will be against Tottenham and we suffered a shocked loss against them earlier in the season. Even though we are 7 points ahead of Man City, it could cut to 4 points as Man City is looking to cut the deficit as much as possible.

The match is level handicap, no prediction for me.

Fixture Focus - Spurs (20 Jan 2013)

Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester United

Just a few months ago, under the management of AVB, we had secured our first win in 23 years over the Red Devils at Old Trafford.

And now, we shall see if we could have a double over them, the last of which was back in the 1989/1990 season.

There will be an absence of some first team players, first of which will be Sandro, who is out for the whole season due to a knee ligament injury, which means Parker would make his first appearance in the lineup for the season. Adebayor is performing his duty for his country in the African Cup of Nations, so we could see Dempsey coming up to partner Defoe. Gallas is out, and so likely Dawson will step in.

Manchester United will be without Evans and possibly Vidic, whom the latter is facing a late fitness test. Though Van Persie is due to start alone, but if their Manchester neighbours gained points on Saturday's game, we may see Rooney coming up against us to maintain the 7-point lead.

Expect an explosive match, and this time I hope there will be no Manchester United come back.

Midweek Review - 16 Jan 2013

Manchester United vs West Ham United

We are still 7 points ahead of Man City after the win against Liverpool. We lost Vidic and Young to injuries and we expect to see Vidic back in the treatment room yet again.

The coming game is a FA Cup replay. Win, and we face the winners of Fulham or Blackpool. Fergie had mentioned that he will make changes to this tie. Hopefully the changes will strengthen and progress to the next round.

Man Utd is giving 1.5 handicap. Take Man Utd for the win and secure another home tie in the next round.

Results - EPL Prediction 12 - 13 Jan 2013

At the moment, it looked like a two-horse race between Mr White and ianrush competing 1-2 at all fronts.

Both are joint first in the league table and Marksmen Board. Mr White now narrowly leads ianrush in the Perfect-10, 2 to 1.

Then again, it is too early to tell, with another 5 people within 10 points of the lead and add 3 more names just outside at 11 points.

necroastr took a stumble this weekend but I am sure given the overall good form that he is running, it won't be long before he joins the chasing pack.

Weekend Preview - 13 Jan 2013

Manchester United vs Liverpool

FA Cup we got a draw against West Ham, and have to force a replay at Old Trafford. And for nothing we got an extra game to add to our domestic and European campaign.

Next game against Liverpool and it is billed the biggest game at this moment even though Liverpool has fallen from grace. We still wont see Rooney back at the moment.

Win, we will be 10 points for at least 2 hrs. Foresee not going to see it happen. Man Utd is giving 0.5 handicap. Not going for it.

Fixture Focus–Spurs (EPL, 12 January 2013)

Queens Park Rangers vs Tottenham Hotspur

There’s never a better time to meet up with the ex-manager especially after AVB just won the Manager of the Month award for December!

QPR are having a mini-run of form recently and Redknapp will know all about his former team’s capabilities. I expect Taarabt will be the man to watch so Bale and BAE will have their hands full on the left side of our pitch.

Spurs have only Gallas and Kaboul out which means Dawson and Vertonghen will be in the heart of defence. If we continue to play the way we have been doing in recent games, we should come away with a win at Loftus Road. The key is to have the motivation to not take any matches lightly.

Fixture Focus–Spurs (FA Cup 3rd Round, 5 January 2013)

Tottenham Hotspur vs Coventry City

The two sides have met three times in the FA Cup, with Spurs winning twice, and Coventry City winning once. They have also met five times in the League Cup, with Spurs winning three times, and Coventry City winning twice.

Tonight should see the return Scott Parker to the starting line up. I would anticipate AVB to field a side comprising of youngsters with a few key starters on the bench. This is a competition that we can honestly win and our 8 FA Cup titles is testament to that.

Based on the form we have been showing, I expect a ‘W’ at home to kick start our FA Cup campaign for this season.

Weekend Review - 5 Jan 2013

West Ham United vs Manchester United

We take a break from Premier League, to have a little distraction from a 3rd round FA Cup tie with West Ham United.

Does anyone knows that the last time we won the FA Cup is in 2004? It will be good if we are able to add this trophy for 2013. But Fergie is more obsess about the Premier League and the Champions League.

Man Utd is giving 0.75 handicap. Take Man Utd for the win and progress to the next round.
