Fixture Focus–Spurs (EPL, 31 August 2014)

Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool

Four competitive games and 4 consecutive wins for a revitalized Spurs!

But this week presents the first stern test as The Reds visit us at home.

On the mind of every Spurs player and fan is the 5-0 mauling we got last December resulting in the firing of AVB. Liverpool comes with almost a similar team except for Suarez gone and Balotelli in.

I know we have made leaps forward in the philosophy we are playing and Porchettino looks like he has more than one plan. I expect us to do much better this time round and it should be a flowing open game for both teams. City showed last week that Liverpool are vulnerable at the back and that is encouraging for us.

A win will be tremendous validation of the new era.

Fixture Focus - Spurs (28 Aug 2014)

Tottenham Hotspur vs AEL Limassol FC
(Europa League Qualifying Stage)

First, I would like to wish Dawson all the best with his departure from Spurs. You have did us proud.

With 2 precious away goals in Cyprus, Spurs looks likely to qualify for the Europa League group stage. However, it is preferable to be cautious and conservative, as what Limassol had showed us in the first leg that they could still spring a surprise.

Lamela in his past few games had demonstrated his worth, and we sure know what we had missed last season. Pochettino would be approaching this game with caution, considering the upcoming league game with Liverpool.

I only have 4 words to say to end this post - Come On You Spurs!

Weekend Review - 30 Aug 2014

Burnley v Manchester United

A shock defeat against MK Dons sent Man Utd out of the Capital One Cup.That is a new low for us and the flattering scoreline from MK Dons suggest that the team is still in transition.

We will be visiting Turf Moor for an early kick off against Burnley. At the moment we have so many injuries and new signings not able to play due to work permit, we have to do with what we have.

At the moment, not going to take Man Utd at the moment till it has stablise. Man Utd is giving 1 ball. No punt.

Midweek Review - 27 Aug 2014

MK Dons vs Manchester United

Another below-par performance at Stadium of Light that we can only gained 1 point. At the point of writing, Di Maria is coming to Man Utd with a club record fee in the region of 50-60mil. I feel we are been robbed.

We are heading to stadium:mk to face MK Dons in Capital One Cup 2nd round. In the past we received a bye in this round due to European commitment. Not for now.

MK Dons previously known as Wimbledon FC, and the infamous goal from David Beckham at halfway line, and shared the same stadium with Crystal Palace under Selhurst Park. The memories came flooding back.....

We will also ring changes in our squad, or might not since some of the players are not match fit.

Man Utd is giving 1.25 handicap. Take Man Utd for the win and progress to the next round.

Fixture Focus–Spurs (EPL, 24 August 2014)

Tottenham Hotspur vs QPR

A new manager, a new philosphy, and perhaps a new era!

What a fixture to kick off the new era than having old meet new. The return of ‘arry to the Lane happens this Sunday when he leads his team against Spurs. His first game back at his old stomping ground since June 2012.

Spurs are riding on a renewed confidence with 2 competitive wins on the trot. Last Thursday’s come from behind win against AEL Limassol continues to signal a new philosophy that Porchettino has implemented in the team.

As for team news, I expect new boy Eric Dier to start at right back in the absence of the injured Kyle Walker and suspended Kyle Naughton. This could mean a center back pairing of Kaboul and Vertonghen. It remains to be seen who are the preferred starting 11 but what I like is the attacking philosophy I’ve seen in 2 competitive matches so far. This is testament to the glory days of Bill Nicholson and will endear Porchettino to the fans.

Let’s kick off the season at home with a bang and a W!

Weekend Review - 24 Aug 2014

Sunderland vs Manchester United

An opening day loss to Swansea bring Van Gaal back to earth. Pre-season friendlies with 100% record is not an indication from Van Gaal that he will bring the glory days back to Man Utd. We are not seeing a full strength yet due to the World Cup. So i think is still early days as the Premier League is a marathon.

We will be going to Stadium of Light to face Sunderland. Gus Poyet did a miracle last season and took Sunderland out of the relegation trapdoor.

Herrera and Shaw are injured for this match, while new signing Marcos Rojo will be ineligible due to work permit. Van Persie could feature in this match at some time.

Man Utd is giving 0.75 handicap. I think we forgotten the fact that Man Utd are always the slow starter in the Premier League. But for this match, I will go for the win and handicap.

Fixture Focus - Spurs (21 Aug 2014)

AEL Limassol FC vs Tottenham Hotspur
(Europa League Qualifying Stage)

Spurs' Europa campaign will begin on the warm Mediterranean island of Cyprus, facing last season's Cypriot First Division runner-up, AEL Limassol.

This game marks Pochettino's first competitive European outing in his career, and very likely he would want to make his first impression lasts. Still toying around the formation and tactics (methinks), we could see players who are not in the first team at West Ham's game on the plane to Cyprus, with names such as Soldado, Paulinho and Davies as the likely candidates.

AEL Limassol are no pushovers themselves as they were the Cypriot champions just 2 seasons ago, and are experienced in European competitions. Their squad, like ours, boasts an international presence with players coming from Brazil, Spain, Portugal, etc.

Weekend Review - 16 Aug 2014

Manchester United v Swansea City

Welcome to the new season of Barclays Premier League. We had a disappointing season under David Moyes and replaced him with Louis Van Gaal in the end season. Without European campaign this season, we should be able to do extremely well in the domestic campaign with extra rest and little travelling to do.

We are also excited with the new players addition mainly Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera. We should see more new players coming in when we clear some dead wood before the transfer window closes.

Man Utd is giving 1.25 handicap. Man Utd has not lost any opening game since the Premier League start in 1992. Take Man Utd for the win and the handicap.

Fixture Focus - Spurs (16 Aug 2014)

West Ham United vs Tottenham Hotspur

The first game of the new season, Spurs will be making a short trip across the capital to Boleyn Ground, home of West Ham, who had defeated us thrice in the last season. This game also marks the first competitive one for the new manager of Spurs, Mauricio Pochettino.

Spurs is going through a transition phase now, with some new players coming in and potentially more players going out before the end of the transfer period. So far, Davies, Vorm and Dier had joined the Lilywhites. A new man in charge, with new players, expect new formations and tactics.

Big Sam is still around at West Ham and like Spurs, are undergoing a transition phase with players coming in and going out. One of the signings is Valencia, the star striker for Ecuador who was featured in the just-over World Cup.

First-game-of-the-season jitters will be in play here, expect the unexpected.
