Midweek Review - 2 Apr 2013

Chelsea vs Manchester United

Our lead is still at 15 points and just need 3 more games to wrap up the season. Our win against Sunderland has also left Martin O'Neill jobless.

This is an FA Cup quarterfinal replay where Chelsea draw 2-2 against us in the earlier tie. With the semi-final opponent is Man City, we hope to end the barren spell by winning the FA Cup again.

Man Utd give a level ball handicap. With the match destined for extra time or even penalties, again no punt.

Weekend Review - 30 March 2012

Sunderland vs Manchester United

Back from international wilderness, we have 9 more games to go and 15 points lead. Man City widened the lead by losing to Everton before the international break. Technically we only need 4 more games to wrap up the season and the title.

We will be visiting Sunderland for an early kick off and could increase to 18 points if we win. Sunderland have lost their main goal scorer for this season - Steven Fletcher to injury while representing for Scotland for international duty.

Man Utd is giving 0.75 handicap. Take Man Utd for the win and extend the lead to 18 points.

Fixture Focus–Spurs (EPL, 30 March 2013)

Swansea vs Tottenham Hotspur

A tough test at Liberty Stadium against the Swans.

Swansea have done really well this season and they have already won the League Cup. They have been playing quite well at home recently, winning 3, drawing 2, and losing just 1. Michu is the man to watch and has scored 10 times at home.

Spurs have had a decent run of form away from home recently, with 3 victories and just 1 loss from the last six. The lads will be keen to shake off back to back defeats in the Premier League and return to winning form. There will be no let up in the pursuit for Champions League spots. Our counter attacking style is well suited for away fixtures and I am hoping the return of Lennon will give us the width and balance we need to break down a potentially stubborn defense.

Prediction League

There wont be any prediction league this weekend due to World Cup qualifiers.

Results - EPL Prediction 16 - 17 Mar 2013

The season look all but over with ManUtd needing just 3 more victories from their next 7 remaining fixtures to lift the trophy.

The situation here however, is different as the title race is just starting to hot up as ianrush stumbled and cool402 surged with a 9-pointer to close the gap to just 2 points. Oh so close!

Granted we missed another Perfect-10 by a whisker, cool402 has the consolation of another one on the Marksmen Board to move up to 5 games while Mr White too got one correct to move up to second at 7 correct predictions.

Housekeeping Notes: All of this season's tables will be kept in Flickr's photoset. Click Here.

Fixture Focus - Spurs (17 March 2013)

Tottenham Hotspur vs Fulham FC

The race for the top 4 positions is getting hotter now with Arsenal and Everton notching up victories in yesterday's games.

And of course, when the going gets tough, we, the tough, gets going.

Back at the Lane, Spurs will be hosting our western neighbours Fulham. Good news is that Lennon is back from injury, and our ex-Fulham D&D (Dembele and Dempsey) are likely to be in the teamsheet facing their old club.

Fulham manager (and our ex) Jol will be bringing in the same team that faced Sunderland 2 weeks ago. Coming in fresh, the Cottagers are still wary of their proximity to the drop zone, even though they are sitting pretty at 10th.

This will be a sort of reunion game. COYS!

Weekend Review - 16 March 2013

Manchester United vs Reading

It was a game that could have easily progressed to the semi final of the FA Cup, but Chelsea obviously didnt read the script and held a 2-2 draw against us. As of writing now, there is no confirmation of the replay date, with the semi-final opponent being Man City.

With only 10 games remaining and 12 points gap, we only need 16-18 points from 6 games to crown champions.

The first game will be Reading where they parted company with Brian McDermott on Monday. For them, I suppose the case could be a little too late for them as they are now 4 points away from safety with 9 games remaining.

Man Utd is giving 2.5 handicap. That is a very big handicap that I have seen in recent seasons. I believe at this stage, points are more important than goals scored. No punt.

Fixture Focus - Spurs (14 Mar 2013)

FC Internazionale Milano vs Tottenham Hotspur
(Europa League Round of 16, 2nd Leg)

Emerging from an explosive weekend game where (in my opinion) the better team lost, Spurs are now back in the Europa campaign with a return leg to the San Siro to face Inter Milan.

3-0 up at home, Spurs are going into the second leg with a huge goal advantage. Bale is out due to suspension, but Adebayor is looking set to return from injury and could partner with Defoe up front. Friedel could be expected to take the helm at goal.

Inter's woes are added with a defeat to Serie A side Bologna over the weekend, and their star striker Milito is still out injured, which means Cassano and Palacio are the likely frontmen facing our defence.

Morale would be the factor here. If Spurs manages to get a 1-0 lead early in the game, that would be very advantageous to us.

Results - EPL Prediction 09 - 10 Mar 2013

A fumble this weekend allowed ianrush to go 7-points clear at the top! ianrush will need to steady himself till the end of the season as a mis-step at this stage means gifting the league title to the next challenger.

Congrats to necroastr for finally catching up and breaking into the Top 10!

Also congrats to Mr White and Arrenn for scoring one more on the Marksmen Board.

Fixture Focus–Spurs (EPL, 10 March 2013)

Liverpool vs Tottenham Hotspur

Liverpool are playing well recently and Anfield has never been an easy ground for us.

Nevertheless, Spurs are ending an amazing week of football with wins over arch-rivals Arsenal and a 3-0 lead over Inter Milan during midweek.

A concern for us is the injury sustained by Lennon and tired legs for many of the key players. Keeping Suarez in check would be key for us and I hope our counter-attacking football will get us at least a draw this Sunday.

Weekend Review - 10 March 2013

Manchester United vs Chelsea

It was the biggest game of the season where Man Utd is leading the game. However because of a game changing moment from the referee, Real Madrid won the game in the end. We were robbed by the referee as Nani was shown the red card.

Mourinho later commented after the match, "Independent of the decision, the best team lost."

Now we have to prepare another Cup tie against Chelsea. Chelsea has been on a free fall ever since Benitez was appointed as the interim manager of Chelsea. They were knocked out of the World Club Cup, Champions League, Capital One Cup, UEFA Super Cup, Community Shield, not able to catch up with Man Utd on the Premier League and on the verge of knocked out in Europa League even though there is 2nd leg to play for.

Man Utd is giving 0.75 handicap. With 2 extra day of rest and no need to travel abroad, Man Utd have the advantage to win this game and proceed to the semi-final.

Fixture Focus - Spurs (7 March 2013)

Tottenham Hotspur vs FC Internazionale Milano
(Europa League Round of 16, 1st Leg)

Spurs fans will always remember the matches between these 2 sides during the Champions League almost 3 years ago. An almost great comeback at the San Siro, a victory at the Lane, and between these two games saw the attention from the whole of Europe (or maybe the world) to a certain Welsh player.

Later tonight Spurs will be playing host to the visiting Nerazzurri, the first game in our path to the quarter finals of the Europa League. Dembele is fit to start despite the knock he got in the North London derby. Ade is still doubtful but Defoe is now raring to go. Of course, Bale will be in this game, period.

Inter’s coach Stramaccioni has conceded the fact that they are facing an injury crisis, especially their back four. Nagatomo and Silvestre are out, with Ranocchia and Samuel doubtful. Despite this, their striking department is still very much a threat, with Cassano and Palacio in it.

Another mouth-watering match, and remember to bring the napkin.

Midweek Review - 5 March 2013

Manchester United vs Real Madrid

We are still 12 points clear with 10 games to go. We just need to win 6 more games to clinch our 21st title. All thanks to Kagawa's hat-trick against Norwich and also the first Asian player to score a hat-trick.

And now we are facing the biggest game of the season where Real Madrid visit us and hope to score first to take away the "away goals" rule when we scored first in Bernabeu. We also welcome back Cristiano Ronaldo since leaving for Real Madrid in 2009.

Phil Jones will be out of this game.

Man Utd is eating 0.25 handicap in this game. Ryan Giggs thinks that this game will have the same impact in the game in 02/03 season where David Beckham scored to reduce the deficit. Wonder which player in the current season will do that? Or will it be Ronaldo's return to destroy us? No punt for me.

Fixture Focus - Spurs (3 March 2013)

Tottenham Hotspur vs Arsenal FC

This season's North London derby is finally coming to White Hart Lane. There will be a lot of expectations from this game, and one of which will be an indicator on who will end the season higher in the table.

As usual, Bale will be at the centrestage of this game (if you had seen the doctored Spurs 12/13 team lineup photo, you know what I mean), after impressing the club management and fans alike over his impressive and crucial goals. Defoe may be coming back from injury and this means good news for our striking department.

Arsenal is going into this derby with a lot of flak from their own fans, especially towards its manager Wenger. However, they still have a fast and deadly side, with the likes of Walcott, Wilshere, Carzola and Giroud.

Since September 2007 we were not beaten by Arsenal at the Lane, and as per tradition of this said derby, expect a lot of goals.

COYS!!!!!

Weekend Review - 2 March 2012

Manchester United vs Norwich City

Despite the lead been cut to 12 points, we are still have the advantage to increase it to 15 when Norwich visit us. Our FA cup quarter-final opponent will be Chelsea.

With one eye on the second leg of Champions League, Fergie will not be fielding his first 11 for this match.

Man Utd is giving 1.5 handicap. Take Man Utd for the win even though they will not field the first 11, they have enough firepower to clear the handicap.
