Midweek Review (20 Jan 2009)

Manchester United vs Derby County

"...this weekend FA Cup tie against Tottenham is a prelude to the Carling Cup Final. No?"
- Gary, 20 Jan 2009

This is the 6th 1-0 scoreline against English Premier League oppositions. But this time round, i can only praise Bolton's goalkeeper, Jussi Jaaskelainen. Even if Man Utd have field 10 strikers, he will still be saving shots after shots. That reminds me of a scene in Shaolin Soccer.

Tonight game against Derby, we are trailing them 1-0. I was undecided about this cup tie due to what Jaywalk have say and due to some dark forces which trying to make Fergie eat his words in winning 4 trophies. And if we win the second leg, this weekend FA Cup tie against Tottenham is a prelude to the Carling Cup Final. No?

If Man Utd win the Carling Cup competition, the runner-up will still get a shot in the next season UEFA Cup. Doesnt really make a motivation at all.

This weekend FA Cup tie could be a little easy for us as Tottenham would want to concentrate in their relegation fight rather than going for cup glory.

Man Utd Team News: Patrice Evra, Wayne Rooney are out with injuries. Fergie could go with the same strikeforce with Tevez and Berbatov against Bolton. There could be a debut for Zoran Tosic.

Derby Team News: Paul Connelly and Jordan Stewart will be back due to suspension. Martin Albrechtsen and Claude Davis are back from injuries. Nathan Ellington is out with groin injury.

Odds and Analysis: Man Utd giving 1.75 ball handicap. There is chances of winning half the stakes back. Take Man Utd.
