Fixture Focus - Spurs (3 Oct 2013)

FC Anzhi Makhachkala vs Tottenham Hotspur
(Europa League Group Stage)

Our second Europa league game takes us to the eastern edges of Europe, right in the heart of Russia. Though our opponent, FC Anzhi, is based in Dagestan, for certain reasons, the game would be held at the grounds of Saturn Ramenskoye, near Moscow.

With an upcoming match against West Ham this weekend, AVB would likely rotate his squad for this game, similar to the lineups against Tromso and Aston Villa in the Europa and League Cup games respectively. This means Defoe and Lamela are likely given the start, with Friedel at goal.

FC Anzhi had seen their fortunes rose and fell within a space of 2 years. In the past 2 seasons, they had boasted players such as Eto'o, Carlos and Willian, but now they are struggling in the Russian league, having a winless 12-game stretch.

This game should be a walkover for Spurs, though we have to be careful for surprises and sucker punches.

COYS!!!!
