Weekend Review - 2 Sep 2012

Southampton vs Manchester United

A nerve wrecking win against Fulham where a freak injury from Wayne Rooney caused him to miss football action for the next 2 months. Fergie benched him for a below par performance for the first match against Everton.

We saw home debut goals from Shiji Kagawa and RVP. It is a different strikeforce from what we have been thinking like Rooney and RVP. Fergie have alot of different combination which is refreshing to us and keep opponents guessing. Hopefully his thinkering dont disrupt the rhythm too much. At the time of writing, Berbatov is heading to Fulham. Well, is a pity to see him go when he scores more goals than Welbeck and Hernandez.

We will be visiting St Mary Stadium for the first time since 2005. Southampton, under the helm of Nigel Adkins, played possession football just like Barcelona, Liverpool and Wigan. It takes time to gel in a higher intensity league compared to lower tier football league. As what we have seen Southampton against Man City for the opening match, I would find it hard to label them as relegation strugglers.

Man Utd is giving 1.25 handicap. I believe Man Utd can score 2 clear goals and win the handicap.
