Fixture Focus–Spurs (EPL, 11 February 2012)

Tottenham Hotspur vs Newcastle United

The return of ‘arry to the sidelines today is a welcome boost to the team.  Let’s hope the team responds with a spirited effort in the match.

Alan Pardew is doing an excellent job with the Toon army and they are right up there fighting for the European cup places.  But they are missing seven players for their trip to Tottenham tonight.  Leon Best could be out for the remainder of the season after picking up a medial ligament injury against Aston Villa, while Steven Taylor is out with an ankle injury.  Yohan Cabaye is suspended while Cheick Tiote is still on international duty at the African Cup of Nations.  Ba and Cisse will be a handful upfront and Tim Krul has days when he is an amazing shot stopper.  Hopefully, today is not one of those days.

On our end, van der Vaart is out while Lennon and Defoe are available again.  It is likely we will see Defoe start with Adebayor with Saha on the bench.  With the home fans surely ready to sing their lungs out, I am hopeful that we do well and keep up the pressure on the both Manchester clubs.

COYS!!!
