Fixture Focus–Spurs (EPL, 2 April 2011)

Wigan Athletic vs Tottenham Hotspur

Roberto Martinez’s men are at full strength. Spurs are struggling with injuries in midfield and defence while Defoe has seemingly not yet discovered his scoring boots. Oh the joy of being a Spurs fan!

Wigan had 12 players away for international duty and all reported back with no injuries. They won earlier when we played at the Lane (oh the shame!) so they will look to do the double on us at the DW Stadium. Remember that this stadium is used for rugby too so any chance of playing flowing football Spurs style on the pitch is thrown out the window.

Spurs have only 2 available central defenders so the back 4 should be BAE, Bassong, Dawson and Corluka. Bale is iffy while THudd should be available on the bench and will not be risked if Sandro continues to shine.

Everyone, especially the media is focusing on the trip to the Bernabau on Tuesday but honestly, we need to win our league games in order to get a chance to play against the likes of Real Madrid every season. We’ve got 2 points ONLY out of games against Blackpool, Wolves and West Ham instead of 9 points! Anyone worried? I certainly am!

But we have the quality to do well if only we concentrate and play the way we know we can. Let’s just hope the players come out pressing hard!

COYS!!!
