Results - World Cup 2018 Prediction League - Day 8

Day 8 of World Cup 2018 brings with it the stark realisation that former champions Argentina may not make it past the group stage. In the meantime, Australia keeps its round of 16 hopes alive by equalising after Denmark's early goal.   

Congratulations to Bedokian and cool402 for being the only 6-pointers in another day of surprises, along with their respective notches on the Marksmen Board. I have Mbappe to thank for France's only goal which handed me an exact prediction as well to jointly lead the Marksmen Board with 4 games.

Day 6 of World Cup 2018 sees more unexpected results, largely caused by some controversial refereeing decisions. All 32 countries have now played at least once, while host nation Russia eagerly awaits the knockout stages with 2 wins.

It was back to business as usual on Day 5 as the match results followed conventional wisdom. However, it was not without its share of drama, as VAR technology continues to feature prominently in affecting the outcomes.  

This round of contests also saw the point gaps throughout the league table being closed via goal bonuses from exact predictions. edwinsng was just one goal off from achieving a 3-match perfect score and now jointly leads the Marksmen Board with redherring at 3 correct games. Russia 2018 presented us with further surprises on Day 4, with defending champions Germany scalped by the determined Mexicans and the Samba superstars Brazil held to a draw by the Swiss.

This resulted in low prediction scores and an opportunity to make up for lost ground as almost everyone saw Serbia's victory coming.
