Chelsea FC vs Tottenham Hotspur

(Capital One Cup Final)

A repeat of the 2008 final, Spurs will face Chelsea for the first cup silverware of the season.

Pochettino have 3 days to prepare the squad after the defeat at Fiorentina in Italy, and he will throw everything into this game to ensure victory, no more no less. There is no injury concerns and that means he could assemble the best formation he could think of against the likes of Chelsea.

Mourinho would have to put his rants aside and concentrate on the game against their London neighbours. Matic is out due to suspension, and Mikel is out on injury.

Although the memories of the 5-3 victory remained fresh, this game would not be the same as that one.

Weekend Review - 28 Feb 2015

Manchester United v Sunderland

What a disappointing result against Swansea. We lost against them on the opening season and another loss makes 4th placing a very hot contested standing. Somehow 4th placing seem to be the new norm of been a champion.

We will have Sunderland visiting in Old Trafford and no matter how, we need to get back to our winning ways in order to get back to the European road again next season.

Man Utd is giving 1.25 handicap. Take Man Utd for the win.

Fiorentina vs Tottenham Hotspur 

 

The first leg ended in a 1 – 1 draw. So with the Capital One Cup final looming this weekend, it will not be easy for Pochettino to pick his starting 11.

 

If it were up to me, I would pick the strongest side possible for  the cup final and pick a B side that is good enough to get us progressing to the next stage of the Europa Cup. Expect an open match on Thursday as we know that short of a win, we will need to get at least a 2-2 draw to prevent the match from going to extra time.

Results - EPL Prediction 21 - 22 Feb 2015

Not much going on this weekend as only a small handful got some points from the Liverpool victory (curses!).

The top 2 title contenders stumbled to let the rest of us have a chance to close in but at this point with 12 games to go, it's a two-horse race with 4 more challengers with a mathematical chance albeit remote.

Still, 12 games is still quite a long way to go. There is still chance for everyone.

Major screw up in my calculations and I have Arrenn to thank for spotting the mistakes yesterday.

Anyway, here is the correct table duly amended.

ihawk98 has a massive 7 point lead!

Tottenham Hotspur vs West Ham United

A Happy CNY to you all! May all of us huat from whatever we do in the Year of the Goat!

Another game against another London rival, this time from the east side of the city. During the midweek Europa League game, Pochettino had rotated his squad and included Soldado in the starting lineup, which resulted in him scoring a goal. With no injury concerns, Pochettino may revert to his League lineup (that means Kane will be in the name list).

West Ham's Big Sam (it rhymes....) will have to use this game to raise the morale of the team, after their unglorious exit from the FA Cup and only 1 goal scored in their last 4 games.

Spurs will have 2 crucial games over the course of the following week - the away leg of the Europa game at Fiorentina and the League Cup final against Chelsea. Pochettino must rebalance and rotate his team wisely.

Weekend Review - 21 Feb 2015

Swansea vs Manchester United

An easy win against Preston North End allow us to progress to the quarter final of the FA Cup and our next opponents will be none other than Arsenal.

Back to Premier League action and we will head to Liberty Stadium to face Swansea. And the opening day loss against them is still fresh in our mind. With the sale of Wilfried Bony to Man City, Swansea is abit toothless upfront at the moment.

Man Utd is giving 0.5 handicap. Take Man Utd for the handicap and consolidate their standing at third for the month of Feb.

Fixture Focus–Spurs (Europa, 20 February 2015)

 

Tottenham Hotspur vs Fiorentina 

 

After a busy season of fixtures, the lads would have had about 9 days between competitive matches and be ready for another busy phase of the season that culminates with the Capital One Cup final at the beginning of March.

 

The result at Anfield would serve to fire up the resolve of the team and we will come out with guns blazing to try to get a strong result to take to the away leg. Fiorentina’s Juan Vargas has been prolific in this competition but I know that with the home fans backing the team up, we just need to stay focus and create our openings like we’ve done in the Arsenal and Chelsea matches.

Midweek Review - 17 Feb 2015

Preston North End v Manchester United

We will head to Deepdale to visit Preston North End and hope to have a favourable result against them to progress to the quarter final of the FA Cup.

Preston North End coach, Simon Grayson will wish to have another go at Man Utd as he was the one in charge of Leeds when he send Man Utd crashing out at the first hurdle in the same competition in 2010.

Man Utd give 1.25 handicap. No punt on the handicap but Man Utd will progress to the next round.
