Midweek Preview - 1 Feb 2017

Manchester United vs Hull City

We progressed to the next round of the FA Cup and need to see who is our next opponents. Now we have our own fixtures congestion. We are in the League Cup final, FA Cup last 16, Europa League knockout round and Premier League title contenders.

We will have Hull City visiting us once again for a league match and at the moment is just 6 points between 2nd and 6th teams. We need the 3 points to catch up them.

Man Utd is giving 2 ball handicap. With a lengthy injury list in Hull, I believe Man Utd will score more than 2 goals to win the handicap. Take Man Utd for the win.

Fixture Focus - Spurs (28 Jan 2017)

Tottenham Hotspur vs Wycombe Wanderers

(FA Cup Fourth Round)

This FA Cup match marks the first ever meeting between these two sides in any competition.

Spurs is expected to field a much weaker squad for this game, given that Kane, Alderweireld and Rose are out injured and there is a league match coming up on 1 Feb.

The League Two side are without Bloomfield and Southwell, but according to manager Ainsworth that it would "be a brilliant day" for them.

Manchester United vs Wigan

We booked a place in the final of the English League Cup and will face Southampton in Wembley.

Next game also another cup match and we are facing Wigan. So far we have an excellent record against them.

Man Utd is giving 2 ball handicap. Man Utd will win and progress to the next match.

Midweek Preview - 28 Jan 2017

Hull City vs Manchester United

A draw against Stoke City and Rooney rewrote the history books for being the highest away scorer in the Premier League.

We will face Hull City in the second leg of the League Cup semi final. And our final opponent is Southampton rather than Liverpool. With a 2 goal lead, we will seek to protect the lead to progress to the final.

Man Utd is giving 1.25 handicap. I would avoid this as Man Utd have nothing to play for, but to protect the lead and progress to the final. No punt.

Fixture Focus - Spurs (21 Jan 2017)

Manchester City FC vs Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs is heading to the Etihad Stadium this weekend for a league match against the blue half of Manchester.

With 5 league wins in tow, Spurs is hoping to keep that impressive form for as long as possible. Pochettino would like to keep his team combo that brought them to this stage intact, though Vertonghen is out for this game due to an injury in the matchup against WBA and would be replaced by Wimmer.

Guardiola had just announced the title race is over for them, but that doesn't mean they are not dangerous. Their retinue of star players like Aguero, De Bruyne, Silva, etc. could wreak havoc in the game.

Just 1 point separates the 2nd, 3rd and 4th league positions, so the teams concerned in these placings (Spurs included) would have to be diligent in their games.

Stoke City vs Manchester United

A draw with our fiercest rival resulted in the winning streak coming to a halt. However, the chasing pack is growing to 5 as we are only 5 points apart from the 2nd place team.

We will head to bet365 stadium to face Stoke under the management of Mark Hughes. Last 2 season we didnt have any good results against them. Hopefully there is a change of fortune from Jose Mourinho.

Man Utd is giving 0.75 handicap. If we win, we could overtake Man City for a few hours. Take Man Utd for the win.

It was an amazing weekend where ianrush stepped on the gas to solidify his lead at the top with an exact prediction. This puts him four points ahead of Voxeros, who has overtaken edwinsng to take second spot.

ianrush also joins the top of the Marksmen Board with four games, while ihawk98 and Bedokian add another notch to their respective totals as well.

The race is now between the top 4 players, but there's still a long way to go.

Weekend Preview - 15 Jan 2017

Manchester United vs Liverpool

Another win and one leg in the final. And we have more time to prepare for the big game this weekend as Liverpool will have a match against Southampton.

Liverpool, with no European commitment, are among the group that are chasing for the Premier title. However they have to play an extra game in the FA Cup for sending the youngest team. Brave decision there, but wrong timing.

Manchester United vs Hull City

Another win and progress to the 4th round of the FA Cup competition. Confidence is at a sky-high where team chemistry and tactics are executed according to plan. We will see who is the next opponent in the competition

We will have another cup match this midweek and we welcome Hull to Old Trafford. Marco Silva is the new manager for Hull as ex-manager Mike Phelan has call it quits.

Man Utd is giving 2 ball handicap. With Mourinho stating that he will give full strength for this match and to settle this 2 leg match at 1 go, I believe Man Utd will clear this handicap.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Aston Villa FC

(FA Cup, Third Round)

This season's FA Cup campaign for Spurs has started, and first on the list would be at home against Championship side Aston Villa.

Spurs are going into this game following a string of 3 league victories during the infamous Christmas Crunch period, including the famous win against Chelsea. There might be a slight shake up to the lineup, as we all know our priority is still on the EPL. I would expect this Sunday's game to be made up of 1/2 to 3/4 of first teamers.

Aston Villa, who are currently 12th in the Championship, are well-rested for this coming fixture since their last game against Cardiff on 2 Jan 2017. With no major injury concerns, they would probably be sending their first team to the Lane.

Weekend Preview - 7 Jan 2017

Manchester United vs Reading

13th win on a row, and is the longest winning run since Alex Ferguson's era. Although we are still 10 points as Chelsea have a game in hand, we will prefer if Chelsea extend the lead so that we can overtake Tottenham. If we keep this up, we could break into top 4 very soon.

We will have Reading visiting us for this weekend FA Cup. Jaap Stam is the current manager of Reading. Although he was shipped out to Lazio under a cloud of mysterious circumstances, he will still be welcomed in Old Trafford.

Man Utd is giving 2 ball handicap. Take Man Utd for the win to continue the winning run.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Chelsea FC

This match would undoubtedly be the game to look forward to this evening. 

Walker and Vertonghen is available after returning from their suspensions, and with the exception of injured Lamela, Pochettino would have a full squad to make his selection for this game.

Chelsea is on a roll with 13 league victories in a row, and the Blues have no major injury concerns, which means Conte would also have a full squad to choose from.

Just 6 weeks ago we had our first league defeat at their hands. Now we shall see if we could return the favour.

Happy 2017 to all PPL players! Welcome to a brand new year, filled with hope and excitement (and more than a little trepidation, if I'm being honest...)

It was a bumper weekend with everyone managing to seize a considerable handful of points. However, that also means that there is no movement in the table, and ianrush continues to reign supreme while adding another point to the gap. 

In other news, I scored another exact prediction to join edwinsng and Mr White at the top of the Marksmen Board.

We're halfway through the season, and it has been a very close race so far. Stay tuned!

Fixture Focus - Spurs (1 Jan 2017)

Watford FC vs Tottenham Hotspur

Happy New Year to you all! On the first day of 2017, Spurs will be heading to Vicarage Road, homeground of Watford.

With Walker and Vertonghen suspended, and Alderweireld a probable on the starting lineup, Spurs would have to deploy Trippier and Dier to boost its defence. Fortunately, the midfield and striking departments remain unchanged from the Saints game.

Watford is looking to capitalise on our defences, but they are being plagued by injuries (Behrami, Mariappa, etc.). The good news for them is that Capoue, their current leading goalscorer, is likely to start.

Let's enjoy the first game of the New Year.

Midweek Preview - 2 Jan 2017

West Ham United vs Manchester United

Happy New Year! We finish the year with a win and close the gap again on the chasing pack. We also saw the old Man Utd where they win in the dying minutes.

We will head to the Olympic Stadium to face West Ham. Alot of people are speculating that West Ham is finding hard to adjust to their new home. But so far, the record stand at 4 wins, 2 draws and 3 losses. Anyway, we still need a win and get into the top 4.
