Results - EPL Prediction 23 - 24 Feb 2013

A rather lacklustre weekend for the guys at the top, leaving the chasing pack at the back a chance to catch up.

This is the tightest race season ever!

Even necroastr is close to breaking into the Top 10 with just 3 points behind Everton. Gambatte!

p.s. I may be travelling next week and so there is a chance the table update may be late to publish.

Housekeeping Notes: All of this season's tables will be kept in Flickr's photoset. Click Here.

Fixture Focus–Spurs (EPL, 25 February 2013)

West Ham vs Tottenham Hotspur

Stay away from the lasagne!

Who can forget the match in May of 2006 where Spurs, on the brink finishing fourth in the league and reaching the Champions League playoffs, lost to the Hammers because of food poisoning affecting many of the starting players. I am sure we will take serious measures to prevent this from ever happening again.

West Ham boss Sam Allardyce has confirmed that defenders James Collins and Joey O’Brien are back in training, and could return to the side which hosts Spurs on Monday. George McCartney is still on the road to recovery from a knee injury, and will not take part in this round of Premier League matches. Meanwhile, Lloris should return for us after being left out of Thursday’s Europa League draw at his old club Lyon. Striker Jermain Defoe is expected to return to training next week, so will not be considered for this local derby against his former club. Younes Kaboul, Sandro and Tom Huddlestone are all unavailable.

Spurs are also on a five game unbeaten away run, and have the second best record on the road in the division. History suggests that we are favourites, as we have won three of the last five league meetings between the two sides. And with the Hammers having only won two games in 2013, both coming at home, against Norwich City and Swansea City, we may just edge this game.

I hope to see the rest of the team stepping up and performing at the level that Bale has been delivering. Fourth place is a tight race and 3 points will put us in a confident frame of mind for next weekend’s London derby with Arsenal.

Weekend Review - 23 Feb 2013

Queens Park Rangers vs Manchester United

We are into the last 8 of the FA Cup and will face either Chelsea or Middlesbrough. The FA Cup still holds the romance of upsets where lower league teams knock out Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham.

Talking about treble, it is not likely to happen. Because in the Champions League, no team from the same nationality have won in successive season. Last season was won by Chelsea, so this season winner which i suspect is from Italy. And only 2 teams from Italy left: AC Milan and Juventus.

We will go to Loftus Road Stadium to face QPR. With 12 point lead and 12 games to go, we will not rest our laurels. Even if have to relegate QPR and making the owner quit, we will do that even though i find the owner statement very ridculous as the money he spend in buying the club and players, and want to quit if they got relegated, it seem to me that he is printing money for free.

Man Utd is giving 0.75 handicap. Take Man Utd for the win and extend the lead to 15 points.

Fixture Focus - Spurs (21 Feb 2013)

Olympique Lyonnais vs Tottenham Hotspur
(Europa League Round of 32, 2nd Leg)

European action is back again later this evening as Spurs will be travelling to Lyon, home of our French opponent Olympique Lyonnais, with the current aggregate score of 2-1.

With no league or FA Cup action over the weekend, Spurs will be entering this game fresh after a full week’s break. AVB is expected to field the same side that faced the French at the Lane. With Bale’s form on the rise, he may be expected to be at centrestage for this game.

Lyon got a crucial away goal and will try to overturn the aggregate score with their home ground advantage. In between the Europa games, they had beaten Bordeaux 4-0 in the French Ligue 1 game and this may boost their morale.

This game will be hot, and with news of Spurs fans being attacked (hope they are well), it will become even hotter.

COYS!

Weekend Review - 17 Feb 2013

Manchester United vs Reading

An incredible draw at Bernabeu to take a slight advantage away goal rule to Old Trafford.

We will be heading home for the FA Cup 5th round against Reading. Fergie will make some changes to ensure the team progress to the quarter final stage.

Man Utd is giving 1.75 handicap. Take Man Utd for the win and progress to the next stage.

Fixture Focus–Spurs (Europa, 15 February 2013)

Tottenham Hotspur vs Olympique Lyonnais

The visit of the French giants to the Lane!

Lyon has a good campaign in Ligue 1 so far. They are currently second in the table. However, the French side has definitely lost an air of invincibility they possessed in the past. Both teams definitely play good football. Lyon is coming into this match on the back of two defeats. This is not really the ideal time for Lyon to visit White Hart Lane.

Spurs will be without the services of Sandro, Jermain Defoe, Younes Kaboul and Tom Huddlestone. Will Bale be the central striker again or will Adebayor regain his starting position? The only certainty is that Friedel will be in goal instead of ex-Lyon player Lloris. This is a winnable tie and one to watch for sure.

Midweek Review - 14 Feb 2012

Real Madrid vs Manchester United

Woohoo, we are 12 points ahead of Man City after they lost to Southampton. And now the title is for us to lose. We still have 12 games to play, excluding the progress that we are going through in FA Cup and Champions League. No one is dreaming of the treble yet.

We will visit Bernabeu with full of confidence after winning 2-0 at Everton to pull away from Man City. This will be the first time Ronaldo will play against Man Utd after his transfer to Real Madrid in 2008.

Man Utd is eating 1 ball. Take Man Utd for the handicap. I suspect it will be a high-scoring draw.
