Villarreal vs Man Utd
"All Big 4 buang over the weekend."
-Gary, 26 Nov 2008
Surprise, surprise!! All Big 4 buang over the weekend. Liverpool, Chelsea and Man Utd were held to a scoreless draw again Fulham, Newcastle and Aston Villa respectively, whereas Arsenal lose to Man City. And Aston Villa finally stop the rot of losing to Man Utd everytime they met.
I wonder does taking a point in a Champions League match to qualified for the second round is so difficult meh? Last round, our group all held to draws. As of now, Villarreal and Man Utd are co-leaders of the group, leading by 6 points, with Aalborg and Celtic with 2 points each. The equation is very simple. Play the match to a goalless draw and we are through to the next round, regardless of the other fixture as goal difference counted as well. Celtic have to score a rugby scoreline in the next 2 fixtures to qualify. Slim chances.
With Villarreal in a slump of form in their domestic league, will Man Utd go for the kill instead of playing for a draw? Interestingly, they have met 4 times, and all ended in a draw. Man Utd away form is 8 wins in a row now.
Villarreal Team News: Joseba Llorente, Nihat Kahveci and Diego Godin are out with injuries.
Man Utd Team News: Dimitar Berbatov, Wes Brown, Paul Scholes and Owen Hargreaves are out. Edwin van der Sar is rested for this match. Carlos Tevez and Darren Fletcher could feature in the match.
Odds and Analysis: Given a level ball handicap, and Man Utd is out to play for a draw, i think i will put my money elsewhere.
