Midweek Review - 30 Sep 2015

Manchester United vs Wolfsburg

For the first time in 2 years, we are at the top of the Premier League after Manchester City suffered a 2nd straight loss to West Ham and Tottenham.

But our upcoming games in Oct will be a tough one. We will have to face Arsenal, Everton, Man City and Crystal Palace in the coming month. This is where we will see whether we are genuine title contenders or title pretenders.

With the opening loss against PSV, we need to get a result against Wolfsburg to ensure that we dont shoot ourselves in the foot and make it hard for us to qualify for the knockout stages.

Man Utd is giving 0.75 handicap. The last time they met in Old Trafford, Man Utd came out as winners. Take Man Utd for the win.

Fixture Focus - Spurs (26 Sep 2015)

Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester City FC

The good thing about the games which were coming fast and furious for the past 9 days is that we get to stay put at North London throughout. Next up will be one of the biggest tests Spurs will have to face - the game against league leaders Manchester City.

Putting the League Cup defeat aside, Spurs will have to refocus on the league and get as many points as possible after a poor start in the first month of the season. Kane is still trying to get his groove back, and hope he could shine in this game. We also have the on-form and emerging Son, who could be one of the game changers for us this season.

The blue half of Manchester got a shock defeat handed by West Ham in the last EPL outing. Team captain Kompany is likely to make a comeback for this game after a short bout of injury, and we have to face the likes of Aguero, Navas and now the former Liverpool player Sterling.

With Spurs on the ascendancy and City fighting the slump, this game might be a close call.

Weekend Preview - 26 Sep 2015

Manchester United vs Sunderland

An easy win over Ipswich and we got Middlesbrough in the next round of the Capital One Cup.

We will host Sunderland this weekend and at the moment, Sunderland is struggling in the league. As such we just need the 3 points to catch Manchester City.

Man Utd is giving 1.75 handicap. Take Man Utd for the win.

Fixture Focus - Spurs (23 Sep 2015)

Tottenham Hotspur vs Arsenal FC

(Capital One Cup, Third Round)

3 home games, 3 different competitions, within the space of 1 week. For this round, Spurs is hosting their “friendly” neighbours Arsenal for the Capital One League Cup third round tie.

Rotation of the squad is on Pochettino’s mind again. 3 games within the space of 1 week is no joke, and with the 4^th game coming up on Saturday against the invincible blue half of Manchester, he really needs to think on who to put up. Promising youngsters such as Alli may be chosen to take up the task against the Gunners.

With a not so impressive performance over the past few games, Wenger may be fielding a slightly stronger team against us, so we might be seeing some familiar names such as Walcott and Ozil starting against us.

A draw game means a replay, and this scenario is no good especially with both teams’ commitments in the domestic league and Europe. I expect there will be a conclusive result for this game.

Manchester United vs Ipswich Town

A win is a win, but to concede 2 soft goals ruins the joy of stout defending that we had at the start of the season. Thankfully Anthony Martial rescue the team, if not all the blame will be on Rooney who have yet to open the Premier League account this season.

We will have Ipswich Town for this midweek Capital One Cup. And will see our B- team in action.

Man Utd to give 1.5 handicap. Take Man Utd for the win and progress to the next round.

We have 2 new leaders! On the back of wins by Chelsea and Man Utd, Voxeros and ianrush have snatched the lead from ihawk98 to hold joint first placings. It's still a close race at the top though, with KingMeng also securing two correct predictions to ensure only a 5-point gap separates the top 5.

In other news, I forgot to post my prediction despite visiting the site a few times last week. Oh well...

Tottenham Hotspur vs Crystal Palace FC

Back to EPL action, Spurs is playing hosts to Crystal Palace, who are experiencing a good form with 3 wins for the past 5 games.

Triumphant from the European campaign, Pochettino is ensuring that the infamous hangover is not settling down this Sunday. There is no fresh injury concern so he will likely do some minor rotations and adjustments from the Europa squad.

Crystal Palace had done impressively in their EPL games, especially those against the giants Chelsea, Manchester City and Arsenal. The only concern Pardew has would be their lack of a clean sheet.

Expect a tough match as Crystal Palace had not lost a game by more than 1 goal this season.

Weekend Preview - 20 Sep 2015

Southampton vs Manchester United

A horrific leg injury to Luke Shaw have sidelined him to the treatment table for quite awhile. Our return to Champions League have started with a defeat, but we are seeing improvement on the match play.

We will go to St Mary Stadium to visit Southampton. They have not been leaking goals at the back after Ronald Koeman took over in the closing season. Despite losing star players to other teams in the transfer market, they have been able to maintain the stability.

Man Utd is giving 0.25 handicap. With both teams not scoring alot of goals, it could be a draw for this match. No punt.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Qarabag FK

(Europa League Group Match #1)

We are now entering the Europa League proper, starting with our first game of Group J.

For today's game, we are playing hosts to Qarabag FK, the last season's champion of the Azerbaijan Premier League. Spurs are playing this game without the services of Mason, Dembele and Eriksen. Good news is Kane is up and ready to go, eager to start a goal account this season.

Not much is known about our opponents' lineup, but they knocked out Young Boys in the play-offs to secure a place in the Europa League group stage, so we must not be complacent against them.

Midweek Review - 16 Sep 2015

PSV vs Manchester United

Rooney was not involved in the Liverpool match, yet we win comfortably against our arch enemy. And there was even a debut goal from Anthony Martial. The win is a much boasted confidence for our match against PSV.

We will get to see 2 Dutch players going back to their native country such as Daley Blind and especially Memphis Depay as he will face his old club after the switch in the off season.

Man Utd is giving 0.25 handicap. Since Van Gaal has change the formation to suit European campaign, Man Utd to win and off to a flying start.

Sunderland vs Tottenham Hotspur

 

Now that the circus we know as the transfer market is closed, it is time for the team and coaches to show what they want to achieve this season.

 

Coming off successful England international matches, I am hoping that Kane continues his scoring and get his first league goal of the season at this match. We could see the debuts of Son since Eriksen is out and Dembele is doubtful. Clinton Njie is also closed to full fitness and he could see time on the bench as well.

The Black Cats' defence is the worst in division and they sit bottom of the table, albeit just one point behind Spurs, and appear to be there for the taking. I just don’t like that Defoe and Kaboul are poised to start for the Black Cats though.

I’m excited to see how we form up and play. Time to get the “Ws” for the season!

Weekend Preview - 12 Sep 2015

Manchester United vs Liverpool

Transfer window have closed and it has nothing short of controversy over the transfer for David De Gea. It was the last day that Real Madrid proposed for a deal and to Man Utd, "ok, we will do this deal, but why must it have to be on the last day?"

Man Utd played along with the transfer and 15 mins before the deadline, claimed that the paperwork have been send to Real Madrid, but Real Madrid claimed that it didnt receive, cant open the file. And the deal is off. So David De Gea set to stay and we bring an unknown French teenager - Anthony Martial. We hope is not another "see Youtube on Bebe and we bought him"

We will host Liverpool and somehow the league has been bringing unexpected results since the start of this season. Though Man City is claiming back the title from the start, the rest has been stuttering especially Chelsea. They have finally lost at home to Crystal Palace and now goalkeeper is injured, I think it going to be a long season for Mourinho.

Both Man Utd and Liverpool have not been firing due to new system or new players coming into the team. But they have alot of catching up to do if Man City is the only team has the real intention.

Man Utd give 0.5 handicap. No punt till we see a change in results.
