Rubin Kazan vs Tottenham Hotspur
‘arry stretched the first stringers for almost the full 90mins on Sunday against QPR so that the reserves can be saved for this midweek fixture in Russia. This is by no means a walkover as Rubin Kazan put up a spirited fight in the tie at the Lane, only to lose 1-0 to a spectacular Pavluychenko free kick goal.
Expect the likes of Defoe, Pavluychenko, Sandro and Gomes to start alongside all our budding youngsters. We are in good shape in the group and do not necessarily have to win this fixture. We only need 4 points from the remaining 3 fixtures to progress into the knock out rounds.
The Russian outfit have lost just once at their Central Stadium home in over three months, and that was to Champions League outfit Zenit St Petersburg. Since their defeat in North London they have won one and drawn one in the Russian Premier League, and with a win very much needed in this encounter we can be confident that boss Kurban Berdyev will field his strongest side possible.
All I wish for is no serious injuries to key players for us and come away with a draw.
COYS!!!
