Fixture Focus – Spurs (FA Cup Quarterfinals, 6 March 2010)

   Fulham vs Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs will be aiming to get to the last 4 in this season’s FA Cup competition.  But what a time to have a tough fixture away from home with the mounting injuries we have to our midfielders.

Redknapp is no stranger to a strong cup run, having taken Portsmouth to the finals and winning the FA Cup a couple of years ago.  He will now have to dig deep into his squad to clear this round.  Jenas just had surgery and Huddlestone is out with an ankle injury.  With Bentley nursing a groin and Lennon still out, the starting midfield could comprise Bale on the left (and BAE taking the left wingback spot), Modric in a central role and Kranjcar on the right.  Would Gudjohnsen get a start in midfield?

Crouch made a case to regain his starting role with 2 goals for England in midweek.  But I believe Harry will go with the hot hand at the moment and “ride the russian” Roman in front with Defoe.

Fulham are no pushovers at home so this will be a tightly fought contest.  I am cautiously optimistic.

COYS!
