Weekend Review - 9 Jan 2010

Birmingham City vs Manchester United

"This match is where form book, standings, everything is thrown out of the window."
-Gary, 9 Jan 2010

Look like we started the year quite badly that we lost to our fiercest rivals. This match is where form book, standings, everything is thrown out of the window.

This is indeed the shock and giant-killing teams where we could only see it in FA Cup.

But then again, what was Fergie thinking when he field 4 forwards in the starting line-up? Rooney, Berbatov, Welbeck and Obertan? One thing for sure, he underestimated Leeds United. Anyway, all the best to Leeds United where they can progress beyond 4th round, hopefully.

Midweek will be another cup game, another derby rivals, but different manager. Mark Hughes have a wealth of talent but doesnt know how to fully utilitise them. It doesnt help either when the star team that he wanted to see on the field didnt materalise as majority of them are in the treatment room. Mark Hughes get the sack and in came Roberto Mancini.

And so far, he have guided Man City to a perfect start in the Premier League and progress to the 4th round of FA Cup. Let see whether by the end of the season, he could guide Man City to the promised land of European Cup next season.
Game is postpone and will proceed to Birmingham game this weekend. Since the takeover by Carson Yeung, Birmingham have been doing well on the field. They are currently unbeaten in 12 games including the latest FA Cup game against Nottingham Forest where they held to a 0-0 draw. If the unbeaten run continue, Birmingham could be eyeing for an Europa League spot next season.

Man City Team News: Roque Santa Cruz, Stephen Ireland, Shaun Wright Phillips, Joleon Lescott, Nedum Onuoha, Michael Johnson and Wayne Bridge are out.
Birmingham Team News: Teemu Tainio, Garry O'Connor and David Murphy are out.

Man Utd Team News: Edwin van der Sar, Rio Ferdinand, Owen Hargreaves, John O' Shea are out.

Odds and Analysis: Man Utd is eating 0.25. No punt for me. Man Utd is giving 1 ball. I doubt Man Utd will clear it with Birmingham on an unbeaten run. I rather take Birmingham eating 1 ball.
