Just now, I was alternating between the Olympics channels 601-606, the Community Shield game between Man Utd and Portsmouth, and the pre-season friendly between Spurs and AS Roma.
The Olympics euphoria would last another 2 weeks more. Man Utd clinched the Community Shield after a penalty shootout. But what I was most concerned was the (surprise) friendly between Spurs and Roma.
The slew of new signings were in - Gomes, Modric, Dos Santos, etc. And we had trashed them 5-0, all to the delight of the Lane supporters.
We had been rated as under-achievers, even though we were labelled as one of the greats in the history of English football. With this performance, albeit a friendly, will Spurs finally be the team with teeth for this season? That's where my title comes in - the other teams should be afraid now that Spurs is a serious challenger for the EPL's top 4 spots.
But this "afraid" also works twofold - as with all other seasons, quipped with being the "potential this" and "potential that", would we still follow the past seasons of losing steam at the wrong moments?
We will see very soon, who is afraid of who....
